The facility, located on Merritt Island, is dedicated to the production of the New Glenn rocket, a heavy-lift launch vehicle designed for a variety of missions, including commercial, civil, and national security.
The New Glenn rocket, named after astronaut John Glenn, is a reusable rocket aimed at reducing the cost of access to space. Its first stage is designed to be reused up to 25 times, significantly lowering the cost per launch3. The rocket is powered by seven BE-4 engines, which are among the most powerful liquid oxygen/liquefied natural gas engines ever developed3.
Blue Origin’s presence in Florida also includes the development of Launch Complex 36 at Cape Canaveral, which is being transformed into a state-of-the-art launch site for the New Glenn rocket. This site will support a wide range of missions, from satellite launches to deep space exploration.
